Being a Healer with all the "Red Tape"
I'm starting today off with thoughts about what it means to be a healer in this day and age. So let me backtrack: I have always wanted to help people and have always been a creative person.
After my schooling, I earned a BA in Psychology and a Masters in Social Work, followed by 2 years of internship.I then obtained my professional license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) specializing in trauma, anxiety and women's health. However, I started to feel like there was more to learn, particularly in areas not covered by my academic training. So I began to develop my other healing abilities:
-I studied yoga and became certified as an instructor,
-I studied prenatal yoga and got certified.
-I continued to delve more into studying energy, clairvoyance, and remote healing.
All the while along this path, I started a business, saw it fail, and then picked up the pieces to move into something more sustainable. However, the thing I have been shying away from is really putting myself out there. I'm sure some of you can relate. It is hard to put ourselves out there to be seen, knowing it may not work out ...or maybe it will and then what? ( Which truthfully is probably the scarier of the two options).
But the thing that makes it really hard sometimes is as a multi-dimensional/ multi-disciplinary healer is that all I want to do is to combine all the pieces of myself and to integrate them (shout out to IFS- internal family systems therapy, which ironically focuses on integrating and understanding all the different pieces of ourselves.) However, so often we are told as professionals there is no avenue for this as a licensed clinician. Naturally, there are communities I'm discovering that are beginning to emerge. However, the longstanding and still widespread notion is that to engage more deeply in esoteric work, one must either be a coach or keep other skills and healing methods separate. But I question this. Why can't I utilize all my skills for healing if I have them to offer?
Up to this point, my response is that I am first and foremost a woman and a mother, in addition to being an LCSW, a yoga instructor, a clairvoyant, and an energy healer. Therefore, when you see me here, you are gaining access to all of that experience. Not just my clinical experience but one as a woman, mother, healer- all of it. While we may not engage in clinical work in this setting, I still have the tools and skills to draw from. I hope this reassures anyone who is curious but hesitant about booking a session with me. For those who might be deterred by what seems too esoteric or unreliable, I want to assure you that I'm not like any other "coach" or healer. I have an academic background, and my goal as a holistic practitioner is to provide the best quality of healing for everyone.I am fully committed to the holistic healing approach, continually learning and evolving to provide my clients with the most grounded, nurturing and ethical
experience.
As always,
Thank you for reading, and see you next Monday!
